The Ministry of Finance held the " Report of Seizures on Illegal Tobacco and Alcohol Products in 2024" on March 7, 2024(Thursday). The Taipei City Government was awarded excellent in the assessment of seizures on illegal tobacco and alcohol products in 2022.

The investigation report was chaired by Juan Ching-Hwa, the Political Deputy Minister, Ministry of Finance. The organizer invites representatives from the National Treasury Administration, Customs Administration, Taxation Administration, National Taxation Bureau of the five regions, Ministry of Finance. At the same time, prosecution agencies like the Coast Guard Administration and the tobacco and alcohol authorities of each county and city government were invited to participate. In addition to jointly planning to improve the seizure on illegal tobacco and alcohol products, the report also praised excellent organizations in the assessment of seizures on illegal tobacco and alcohol products in 2022. The Taipei City Government won the excellent results in the assessment and was awarded a grant of 500,000 to be used as a fund to strengthen the investigation of illegal tobacco and alcohol products.

Hu Hsiao-lan, the commissioner of DOF, said that it is difficult to seize a large amount of illegal tobacco and alcohol because Taipei City has no coastline and no port. In order to improve the performance of seizing illegal tobacco and alcohol products, we still actively strengthen the inspection of cases of online sale of illegal tobacco and alcohol products and handle the random inspection of tobacco and alcohol operators within the jurisdiction. The DOF will also continue to actively communicate with various investigation agencies and strengthen horizontal communication channels, with a view to improving the performance and capacity of illegal tobacco products and working with counties and cities to protect the health of the people.
