DOF conducted a tobacco and alcohol law awareness campaign in conjunction with the "2024 Taipei Senior Citizens Sports Games", receiving enthusiastic participation from the public.

On Saturday, October 5, 2024, DOF set up a booth at the Taipei Gymnasium in conjunction with the "2024 Taipei Senior Citizens Sports Games" to promote awareness of tobacco and alcohol laws. The theme of the campaign was "Prohibition on Online Sales of Tobacco and Alcohol, and Ban on Resale of Duty-Free Tobacco and Alcohol", reminding the public to avoid violating the law and penalties.

DOF reminds the public that selling tobacco and alcohol online is illegal, and a fine of NT$10,000 to NT$50,000 may be imposed, regardless of whether the transaction is completed. Additionally, duty-free tobacco and alcohol brought back from overseas travel can only be used for personal use or as gifts; reselling them is prohibited and may result in a fine ranging from NT$30,000 to NT$500,000.

Besides, to protect consumer rights, informational cards were placed at the booth to remind the public to carefully review contract terms when signing agreements with tobacco and alcohol businesses or purchasing gift vouchers. If the contract includes terms like "lifetime" or "permanent", which violates the regulations of prohibited and required contract terms, consumers should refuse to sign and report to the authorities. The public is also advised not to be easily swayed by marketing tactics and to purchase carefully, making rational decisions.

At the event, attendees used their smartphones to scan a QR code, which linked them to an educational video of "Prohibition on Online Sales of Tobacco and Alcohol, and Ban on Resale of Duty-Free Tobacco and Alcohol". Through engaging and lively animations, participants learned about tobacco and alcohol laws. The public participated enthusiastically, creating a vibrant atmosphere and making the event a resounding success.
